Morbid Angel pioneered death metal in the sticky American South during the 1980s. Under the intense musical direction of guitarist Trey Azagthoth, they brought unholy extreme metal to a worldwide mainstream audience. They shed many members along the way, touching the legacy of bands including Terrorizer, Nocturnus, Genitorturers, and Hate Eternal. Now Morbid Angel has released Illud Divinum Insanus, its first effort in 16 years with classic singer David Vincent, and Bloody Roots examines past and present phases of this visionary metal squadron.
